Plenty To Do in West Dorset

Below are just a few suggestions and recommendations for things to do while you are in the area.

Stand Up Paddleboard and Kayak Hire

Along the beautiful Jurassic Coastline are wonderful places to have a go at paddleboarding or kayaking. Don’t have a board or kayak? No problem, Burton Bradstock SUP and Kayak Hire will deliver to where you are staying and their website has handy tips how to inflate your SUP or kayak as well as safety guidance and information on the best places locally to use the equipment.
Visit Burton Bradstock SUP and Kayak Hire Website

Fossilling

Just a short walk down the bridle path to Seatown you’ll find a fossilising paradise. Head West along the beach towards Golden Cap, keeping away from the cliffs as findings here will be full of clay so stay along the low water mark and keep your eyes peeled for belemnites and ammonites.
If unsuccessful, take a guided tour with local expert Chris, The West Dorset Forager , or visit the Charmouth and the Heritage Coast Centre to see their amazing fossil collections and find out how to discover your own fossils on the beach.

Furleigh Estate Tour

Furleigh Estate is set in the stunning Dorset countryside, just 5 miles from us in the small village of Salway Ash. They are always happy to talk about their wines and give you a taste of whatever is open if you go to their shop. However if you want to see and learn more, we can highly recommend one of their Vineyard Tours and Tastings.

Palmers Brewery Tour

You’ll go behind the scenes in the historic brewery buildings, to watch every stage of the centuries-old brewing process. The tour ends with a beer tasting (or a soft drink) in their Wine Store, where you will receive a commemorative glass tankard.
